Getting Started with Higherlogic

Welcome to the CAPCommunity! There’s a lot to explore, and you’re encouraged to engage however it best suits your needs. Navigate around the community to get a feel for what’s available, and then build your CAP Community experience!

If you’re not sure where to begin, here are four suggestions for jump-starting your journey:

  1. Update your profile to add your photo and demographics
  2. Update community notifications
  3. Ask or answer a question in a community discussion forum
  4. Connect with others via the Member Directory

    Update Your Profile

The community profile page is a valuable way for other members to learn about you, as well as a way for you to track your posts and file uploads and set your community subscription and privacy settings.

    - Navigate to your profile by clicking on the circle icon (with your initials inside) next to the search bar on the top right.
    - Update your profile picture
    - Add a summary of your professional experience and interests in the About Me section and any professional association, jobs, and awards you might want to share.
    - Contact details, such as where you are currently working, must be updated in your CAP Account.

    Update Community Notifications

You can manage the frequency at which notifications are sent to you from each community you are a member of. The most efficient way of doing so is:

    1. After logging in, click on your profile picture in the top right corner. (If you have not uploaded a photo, you will see a generic thumbnail)
    2. In the dropdown, click on the ‘Profile’ button.
    3. Click the ‘My Account’ tab and then ‘Community Notifications.’
    4. The page will refresh, and you will see a list of communities you are a member of and options for discussion emails, a consolidated daily digest, and a consolidated weekly digest.

    Engage in Discussions

Now that you're familiar with the community, it's time to connect with others. Within the Committee you are a part of or a specific community, select Discussion > Post New Message.

    1. In the "Post to community" dropdown menu, choose the community where you want your post to appear.
    2. Enter a descriptive subject line in the "Discussion subject" box.
    3. Enter your discussion or question in the following text box and press 'Post.'

Your question will appear in the selected community, and you will receive real-time email notifications when others respond.

If you don't have a question today, view other posts and provide an answer. Remember, there are no wrong answers – the value of our community comes from the collective knowledge and experiences of all members, and your contributions can make an impact on the professional lives of your peers.
