Dr. Spencer is CIPI staff and the Senior Director, Standards & Guidelines at the CAP, leading efforts in standardized, structured pathology cancer reporting and data capture and supporting clinical informatics, artificial intelligence, diagnostic and computational pathology, and laboratory and pathology guideline development. She is the staff business sponsor for the CAP-FDA BAA contract 2022-2023.
Most recently, Dr. Spencer was Senior Director for CAP Cancer Protocols & Data Standards, developing best-practice standardized and structured reporting products including the CAP electronic Cancer Protocols (eCP), with a goal to assist pathologists in their cancer reporting workflow and health systems in better use and exchange of their data to advance patient care.
Previously, Dr. Spencer was a SNOMED-CT clinical editor, emergency physician, emergency department quality assessment officer, and practicing internist. She maintains board certification in Clinical Informatics and Emergency Medicine, having been residency trained in Emergency and Internal Medicine.
In her spare time, she enjoys baking, taking walks, hanging out with her cats, kid, and husband (in that order), and binge-watching sci-fi series like the Expanse. Yes, there will be a quiz on this later.
