Bio

Dr. de Baca has long been active in the College of American Pathologists, first as a junior member of the SNOMED International Editorial Board, then as founding co-chair of the CAP Pathology Electronic Reporting Taskforce, later as a member of the CAP Cancer committee (where she co-authored on several of the CAP Cancer Checklists), DIHIT and Informatics Committees, and now as a member of the CAP Board of Governors, Council on Education, Finance Committee, Investment Committee, AI Committee, Information Technology Leadership Committee and Informatics Committee.  Helping create and serving as Chair for the Council on Informatics and Pathology Innovation at CAP is her dream come true.
In the Informatics realm, she is most interested in structured disease reporting, healthcare data management, laboratory data standards, laboratory interoperability and clinical decision support.   
Dr. de Baca has directed high complexity hematopathology services and  CAP accredited high complexity laboratories, and has been affiliated with academic teaching centers (as a community pathologist).   She is a Past President of the Association for Pathology Informatics and served on the CLIA Advisory Board.
She is Board certified in AP/CP and hematopathology (ABP) and in Ophthalmology (Land Brandenburg/FRG). Living in Seattle, WA, she is the Director of Hematopathology and Flow Cytometry for Pacific Pathology Partners and is a Co-Founder of MD Path, LLC, which offers pathology consulting services.
