Bio

Amanda is currently a fourth year AP/CP pathology resident at McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in Houston, Texas. She is a Texas native, but spent most of her childhood in the suburbs of Denver, CO. She completed her BS in microbiology at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. Following a gap year as a research technician at Baylor College of Medicine, she started her dual degree program at UT Houston. She completed her thesis work at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the field of cancer immunology. After completing residency, Amanda will complete a Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine fellowship at Houston Methodist Hospital. 

Amanda has been involved in organized medicine since medical school, and has served on committees in both the Texas Medical Association and the Texas Society for Pathologists. She currently serves as the chair of the CAP residents forum executive committee (RFEC) and is a junior member on the professional and community engagement committee (PCEC). She is also involved with the Association for Pathology Chairs, the Society for the Advancement Patient Blood Management, and AABB. 

Outside of work, Amanda is married to Stephen, a radiologist, and is the mother to three young children.
